The NSRWA has officially embarked on our second major river restoration project as the Town of Marshfield begins removal of the Veterans Memorial Park Dam on the South River, breaking ground on November 13, 2024. This project is over 10 years in the making, and would not have been possible without multiple partnerships and collaborations. You, our supporters, help make this work possible. Thank you for your trust in our work towards restoring our rivers health.

Children and youth learn to become stewards with the NSRWA, and we need your help today to ensure we are able to continue educating young people, their parents, their broader communities, and more - all towards ensuring the long-term health and safety of our fragile ecosystem. Projects like the dam removals are opportunities for young people to learn about the impacts humans have had on the environment, and how people can work together to restore it. Thanks to our community, and members of our Leadership Giving Circle, in 2024 we accomplished the following:

  • Provided environmental education programs to almost 5,000 youth - in their schools and getting them outdoors experiencing nature.
  • Engaged more than 600 volunteers to monitor the health of our local waters, support public outreach, paint a mural at the Hanover Crossing celebrating our rivers and provide youth environmental education.
  • Successfully reinstated funding into the state budget for the North River Scenic Protective Order

As we approach the end of 2024, now is the time to support the NSRWA. Thanks to the generosity of our members, we have received a generous matching gift. By making a gift today, your support will receive a match, up to $50,000. Your generosity sustains the work we do to protect and preserve the watershed. Thank you for your generous support of our work.

The NSRWA Team

Special thanks to the artists who painted the mural on display at the Hanover Crossing. This mural, and the benches around it, celebrates the work of the NSRWA that allows our rivers to flow. Thanks to Sally Dean, Cathy McCarthy, and Kris Brennan for inspiring us with your art!

When you join our Leadership Giving Circle, you join a community of donors who believe strongly in our mission to restore rivers, teach youth and adults about water conservation, and get people outdoors to explore the South Shore.

Leadership donors are vitally important partners who make sure the NSWRA continues to thrive and grow by providing one of the most important sources of our unrestricted annual income. Thanks to your Leadership gift, we will continue to protect the rivers you love and connect more of your friends and neighbors to the vital watershed in their own backyard.

As a Leadership Giving Circle member, you’ll receive special updates on the direct impact of your support, invitations to exclusive events, and opportunities to connect with like-minded individuals dedicated to our cause. Your leadership gift plays a transformative role, empowering us to plan strategically and expand our reach.
